Street Outreach Worker / Part-Time
The Part-Time Street Outreach Worker will build relationships with people living in unsheltered locations, ensuring basic needs are met while facilitating access to housing and supportive services. The Street Outreach Worker meets with individuals where they are living (outside) in various locations in and around Charleston. The goal of the Street Outreach Worker is to establish trusting relationships with individuals and connect them with the resources and services they may need. Provide transportation via an agency or personal vehicle to secure needed identification/vital documents, shelter/housing, job search, and other needed services. Additionally, perform administrative reporting and other duties as assigned in support of the Street Outreach program.
Qualifications and Skills
Bachelor’s degree in social work or related field preferred, however any combination of experience and education likely to provide the skills and abilities to be successful in the position will be considered. Successful candidates will be highly motivated self-starters and work independently. Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation and liability coverage insurance required. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel. Excellent time management skills. Applicant should have an understanding in all areas related to homelessness, substance abuse and mental health.
Part-time 20 - 25 hours a week.
Mileage will be reimbursed at a rate approved by the agency.
